Sequences – Flows – Washing Machines

In AcroYoga, sequences are like poems.
Just as poems are born from artfully arranged words, AcroYoga flows emerge from poses and transitions strung together with intention and creativity. One special type of sequence is the washing machine — a repeating cycle of moves that always brings you back to the starting pose. Like clothes spinning in a drum, these movements repeat endlessly, creating a rhythm that feels both playful and meditative.
I’ve tried to organize these sequences in a clear and accessible way, grouping them by different aspects. Some elements fit into multiple categories, so you’ll find them in more than one place.
For beginners, I’ve broken down the simpler flows into individual transitions. That’s because beginner-friendly sequences often include held poses, making the building blocks easier to recognize and practice. Seeing which poses are needed for a certain sequence can really help new practitioners progress.
More advanced flows, on the other hand, tend to be more continuous — poses aren’t held for long but instead appear briefly as transitions. Experienced eyes can follow the motion without needing each piece explained, so for these, a breakdown of poses and steps isn’t always necessary.

Sequences for Beginners

We’ll start with beginner-friendly sequences, featuring simple and easy-to-follow movements. These are great for getting started and building confidence.
Next come longer flows, recommended for more experienced beginners — or simply to watch, analyze, and learn from. You can pick out individual elements from these sequences that match your current skill level and try them at your own pace.
I’ve also gathered a selection of excellent instructional AcroYoga videos, organized by teacher. These aren’t just demonstrations — the moves are clearly explained or subtitled, often with detailed breakdowns to help everyone understand the key principles.
If you want to deepen your practice and really get the foundations down, it’s definitely worth taking the time to study these teaching videos as well.

Intermediate Flows

This might just be the largest category — I’ve collected a huge number of videos here. And the list keeps growing, as I discover new and exciting movements almost daily. Each of these videos contains something inspiring, something worth trying out and sharing, to bring more joy and a sense of accomplishment to as many AcroYoga duos (or solo practitioners) as possible.
I also try to highlight connections between the sequences — guiding you from easier flows to more challenging ones, or the other way around. If something feels too difficult, I’ll show a simpler variation that might be more accessible at the moment. Once you’ve nailed that, you can go back and try the original again with fresh confidence.

Catherine’s Wheel is a very popular washing machine — you can tell by the sheer number of variations that have developed over the years.
Forward, backward, with a pop, with a whip, and countless small (and not so small) modifications — yet all of them are still considered Catherine’s Wheel variations.

Vertical Spins

Vertical spins form a vast and exciting category that includes all washing machines where the flyer remains above the base throughout the sequence, rotating either forward or backward while staying parallel to the base. In these moves, the flyer never turns perpendicular to the base — their body consistently stays aligned above the base’s center.

This is why these sequences can be seen as “simpler,” since the movement stays within a single plane. However, don’t let that fool you — this category also holds plenty of surprises. Some vertical spins present real challenges, even for experienced acroyogis.

It’s worth exploring this section thoroughly and trying out the different flows. You might discover a favorite new sequence — or an unexpected skill gap to grow into!

Pose-Based Flows

Explore acroyoga sequences that revolve around a specific pose. Each flow in this collection features a signature shape—like Throne, Vishnu’s Couch, or Star—as its central element, with transitions that highlight its creative potential.
Whether you’re looking for playful variations or smooth washing machines, these flows offer inspiration for building complexity around familiar poses.
Let each pose become a gateway to new movement possibilities!
