This might be the most popular washing machine that includes the Koala pose. It’s worth studying not only the pose itself but also the transitions—and even the entire sequence.
The fact that this little flow has so many variations shows just how lovable it is. I’ve found a few of them—it’s worth watching them all.

They take the koala pose from a bird, then a one-leg back bird, then a star. From a star, they return to a bird with a cross-step. From here you can continue the washing machine in the other direction.

An exciting entry into a folded leaf, but the next round starts from a bird.
Emil Ingemann Berg Nielsen

The sequence starts by entering Koala from Side Star. In the One-Legged Back Bird, the flyer doesn’t place the base’s foot under their head. From Star, the flyer goes directly into Side Star again, where the sequence starts over.

Used poses

Used transitions

In these videos, we can see several different entries into the Koala Hug pose.
We don’t categorize them separately, as they all essentially start from Bird. The transition can go directly from Bird to Koala, or through Side Star (Bird → Side Star → Koala), or through Folded Leaf (Bird → Folded Leaf → Koala).
All of these entry variations are described in detail on the “From Bird Koala” transition page.
In Koala washing machine, you’re free to choose the entry that feels most comfortable or intuitive to you — any of them work perfectly.
Enjoy the beauty of variety and feel free to develop your own version!
