The Sewing Machine is a variation of the Koala Hug washing machine. The beginning follows the same familiar pathway through Bird, Side Star, Koala, and One-Legged Back Bird, but from here, the sequence takes a different route.
Instead of continuing along the usual Koala Hug pathway, the flyer moves into a One-Legged Reverse Star (Monolimb), followed by Side Star. From there, the next round can begin on the opposite side.
While learning the Sewing Machine, you can pause in a regular Reverse Star instead of holding the one-legged variation. The base simply brings in his second foot to support the flyer, creating a more stable position while you find the balance and become familiar with the pathway. Once the movement feels comfortable, you can keep the sequence flowing through the one-legged version without adding the second foot.
Here, the base holds the flyer’s hand as she rises into Reverse Star, providing extra support and stability during the transition.
In this version, the flyer holds the base’s leg instead of his hand, moving through a true Monolimb position without the additional hand support.
