The Barrel Roll is an exciting washing machine where a bat tic toc and a 5th position tic toc alternate. It can be performed with two different hand grips. In one version, the hands are parallel in bat and crossed in bird; in the other, it’s the opposite. Some people prefer the first, others the second—both can create a smooth and harmonious flow.

In this variation, the hands are parallel in bat, while in bird both the hands and the legs cross each other. This is the handtohand grip.

In this video, both variations are shown one after the other

A regular barrel roll in a very nice performance. In straddle bats, the hands are crossed, in birds they are parallel. Both hands are used up off the bat, only one on the back. This is with reverse hand2hand grip

The handholding is stable throughout, they change grip after one round, but also hold each other’s hands throughout the process.
