From Inside Star to Reverse Outside Star

159

This transition appears frequently in sequences of varying difficulty levels, and just as there are many types of side stars, there are just as many variations of this transition. From inside side star to reverse outside side star, you’ll find a wide range of solutions — I’ll try to showcase as many of them as possible. With hand-to-hand grip, or with the base holding the flyer’s foot, or the flyer holding the base’s foot… The flyer typically turns forward into the outside star, but it’s also possible — though more difficult and therefore less common — to turn backwards into it. It’s definitely worth studying, trying out, and practicing these variations.

Transition from inside star (the flyer’s face is facing the base and her upper body is in the direction of the other leg of the base) to a reverse outside side star (the flyer’s face is facing the base’s leg and her upper body is facing outward). Jacob Brown

The base moves from one hip of the flyer to the hip on the other side, while the flyer turns half a turn.

This is the movement where the flyer doesn’t turn forward, but backward. The starting and ending pose are the same

No base hands at all…

Flyer holds the base’s foot

With base hands but with legs together and this is much harder because she has no hip pocket
