A naked singularity is a variation of the ninja star. The main idea is that we add an extra step to the sequence, which causes the movement—originally going in one direction—to reverse and change direction. This results in one turn to the right, followed by a turn to the left. The ninja star can be done in the baby version (straddle bat), or in the original version (through back bird).

An extra step has been added to the ninja star! In this version, the baby ninja star is done, that is, the rollover is done through the bat.

The extra step can be seen here as compared to the ninja star, the rollover is done through a back bird. It has a change of direction because of the odd step.

What does “Naked Singularity” mean?

The term naked singularity comes from astrophysics. It refers to a theoretical gravitational singularity — like the center of a black hole — that is not hidden behind an event horizon, meaning it would, in theory, be visible to the outside world.

In a regular black hole, the singularity is always covered by the event horizon, so nothing (not even light) can escape. But a naked singularity breaks that rule — it’s exposed, unpredictable, and mysterious. Some physicists think it can’t exist in reality, while others believe it’s possible under extreme conditions.

In the context of this acroyoga washing machine, the name might suggest that the sequence is:

  • Open and visually striking, with no hidden transitions,

  • Complex and unique, unlike more structured or typical flows,

  • Possibly involving rotational or spiraling motion, like matter around a black hole.

It’s a creative name that evokes something extraordinary and out of the ordinary — much like the movement itself.
