This transition is a key part of the Ninja Queen washing machine — and it’s a fun challenge for both base and flyer!
I remember the first time I tried this transition as a flyer — I kept falling between the base’s legs! I wasn’t supporting myself strongly enough with my hands, so my body stayed vertical instead of horizontal, and I couldn’t find side star.
Later, when I tried again, the base made a big difference: instead of placing their foot out to the side and waiting for me to rotate onto it (as if coming from back bird), they positioned their foot closer to my sacrum. That way, even if I didn’t rotate fast enough, the support was already there. The two feet were almost touching during the transition, so there was no gap to fall into — and it worked!
So if you’re struggling with this move, try adjusting the base’s foot placement — it can make all the difference!
The flyer has to hold themselves up with their hands and make a quick transition onto the base’s foot to land in side star
