This is an interesting transition — one I personally really like. It appears in several washing machines, so it’s worth studying and learning. Jacob Brown’s tutorial is so clear and illustrative that it needs no additional explanation — just watch it all the way through.
The base steps across the flyer’s hips from one side star to the other, with the foot pointing outwards, like the 5th position for ballet dancers. While practicing, you can keep the arms parallel; later on, you can try it with a cross-hand grip as well.
Used Poses
Bird pose is the transitional position here — it doesn’t actually settle, it’s just passed through. Moreover, only the flyer is in bird; the base’s legs are not parallel but crossed. The shape, with the flyer aligned above the base in a straight line, is essentially a front plank.
