There are two versions of the Icing on the Cake washing machine—this is version one, the easier variation. It’s a good idea to start with this one before moving on to the more advanced version.
The Feel the Flow video is a detailed tutorial that breaks down each movement and also covers spotting options. It’s definitely worth watching before you try it!

The alternation between Side Star and Cake with Candle creates a one-way spinning motion.
If you’d like to reverse the direction, you can use a Bat Tic-Toc transition to move into Side Star on the other side—and keep the flow going from there.
Feel the Flow

This variation follows the same sequence as the classic Icing on the Cake, but with one important difference. Instead of hooking her leg around the base’s leg, the flyer simply places her foot on the base’s foot throughout the movement.
Removing the hook makes the connection noticeably less stable, requiring greater balance, body tension, and precision from both partners.

If you’re already comfortable with the original version, this is a rewarding way to challenge yourself while keeping the same beautiful flow.
