From Bird to Shoulderstand with ankle holds

496

Beginner-friendly transition, commonly found in many entry-level sequences. The flyer starts in bird pose, holding the base’s ankles while tilting forward with a straight body. The base holds the flyer’s shoulders and uses their legs to assist the flyer into a vertical position.
Beginner variation: The base bends their legs until they reach the flyer’s shoulders, then extends them to lift the flyer into the vertical position. The flyer extends their arms and maintains stability.
More advanced variation: The base keeps their legs straight while tilting the flyer until their feet reach the flyer’s shoulders. At this point, the flyer actively pushes off the base’s feet to propel themselves into the vertical pose.

Here, the flyer maintains a straight body and allows the base to tilt them. The movement is also beautiful in reverse—the flyer tilts back with a straight body from the shoulder stand, landing smoothly on the base’s feet.  SupaFly me

The flyer grabs the base’s ankle and tilts forward with a straight body. The base extends their arms, waiting for the flyer’s shoulders to reach their hands. Once the shoulders make contact, the base uses their toes to assist the flyer in tilting up into the shoulder position. In this video, the base keeps their legs extended throughout the movement.  The Team

Tutorial video with subtitles. In this video, the base bends the legs during the tilt and extends the legs to help the flyer to the vertical position.
