We don’t transition directly from the straddle bat pose to the front plank; instead, we pass through the side star. It’s a simple, beginner-friendly transition that less experienced practitioners can also perform.
First, the flyer tips over from the bat pose into a regular inside star. At this point, the base transfers the flyer onto the other foot, which then becomes a reverse inside star. From here, the bird pose naturally follows.
Cross-hand grip, then side star. The base steps their other foot onto the flyer’s hip, then brings their second foot to the flyer’s opposite hip, transitioning into bird pose.
