This is a complex transition that requires attention to multiple elements at once. The base initiates the movement by gradually releasing their hands while maintaining the flyer’s balance. At the same time, the base lifts their legs, bringing them toward their head, then closes their feet together and steps into the flyer’s sacrum. The flyer tilts onto the base’s feet. The flyer keeps their body straight throughout the transition.
Watching the video helps visualize how the base simultaneously moves their hands away—while still supporting the flyer’s shoulders—and brings their legs under the flyer. When the base tilts the flyer onto their feet, the flyer must release the base’s forearms in time to rise into the reversed bird pose.
It’s best to start practicing this transition only when both poses are fully stable.
