Reverse Vishnu couch

266

The reversed version of the Vishnu Couch pose. The base’s one leg is under the flyer’s armpit, while the other leg is under the flyer’s inner thigh. The flyer is perpendicular to the base, facing away from them. We rarely use this pose, but it can be found in creative flows.
At the Abrakadabra Mozgásműhely with Gergely Tas, we spent months exploring Vishnu and Reverse Vishnu, examining the movements inspired by these poses. This workshop led to many experiences and videos. Here, I’ve gathered a few fundamental movements from our practice.

Videos

In the first few seconds of the video, we see how to enter the Reverse Vishnu Couch pose. It’s worth watching further, as the flyer transitions symmetrically to the other side through a Reverse Straddle Throne.  AcroDemy

In this video, we show how to step from Reverse Vishnu Couch to Vishnu Couch and back. With the help of hand support, the base first removes their leg from under the flyer’s armpit and steps to the flyer’s hip, then back to the inner thigh, and finally returns to the armpit.  Acrodemy

This video is very interesting—you need to watch it multiple times to catch the differences. The first transition from Reverse Vishnu to Vishnu is the same as in the previous video. However, in the second transition, there is also a side switch. Take a look at which direction Panka’s head is facing after the switch! It’s worth slowing it down and analyzing the steps.
