In bird, the flyer balances on the base’s feet, holding hands for stability. To transition, the flyer pulls one knee up toward their stomach, while the base places their foot on the flyer’s back thigh. The flyer shifts their body weight onto the supported leg and then repeats the movement with the other leg. After this, the flyer releases the base’s hands and straightens up, sitting upright on the base’s feet. This can only be done if the base’s legs are still bent, meaning the flyer’s hips aren’t too high. Once they release each other’s hands, the base reaches under the flyer’s feet and extends their legs. This leads to achieving the stable throne position.
